- Gay marriage is now legal in California, but a non-resident who attempts to marry a U.S. citizen may face deportation. Citizenship and Immigration Services spokeswoman Chris Rhatigan: "The couples are married under state laws in California. The federal government does not recognize these marriages for immigration purposes."
- Out of the eight largest economies in the world, the U.S. is doing the least in addressing global warming, according to the G8 Climate Scorecard. Britain was ranked first, followed by France and Germany.
