- Japanese researchers and origami enthusiasts plan to launch a paper airplane from the International Space Station. They’re hoping it will eventually reach the Earth’s surface. Where a hapless bystander will walk by, pick it up and read: BANZAI!
- U.S. stocks dropped for a third day in a row, their worst consecutive decline since 2002. Investors are beginning to believe that the U.S. economy is headed for a recession – like a depression, but not as bad.
- U.S. Attorney General Mukasey announced a crackdown on the flow of illegal firearms across the border to Mexico. Firearms are prohibited in Mexico but not in the U.S.. Mexican drug cartels and, probably, American guns, are blamed for the violent deaths of 115 people in Mexico in just the first two weeks of this year.
- Tego Calderón’s new video Ni Fu Ni Fa borrows from the sensational Brazilian gangster movie City of God. (via Gary Daniel)
