- Latino workers, primarily foreign-born laborers, die on the job at higher rates than any other ethnic group, according to a study by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Researchers say Latinos are more likely to take high-risk jobs. They also cite poor training, poor supervision and difficulty with language and literacy as factors in the deaths.
- Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton has announced she will end her presidential bid on Saturday and declare her support for -- but not endorse -- rival Barack Obama: "I have said throughout the campaign that I would strongly support Senator Obama if he were the Democratic Party's nominee, and I intend to deliver on that promise." - Usher's Here I Stand, featuring the single "Love in This Club," earned the second highest first week sales of the year with nearly half a million copies. Only Mariah Carey's E-MC2 moved more units its first week of release.
- Tortilla prices in México continue to rise, with some forecasters predicting an increase of 40 percent by next month, a figure much higher than the 18 percent increase previously announced by the National Chamber for the Tortilla and Dough Industry.
- Cubans are more concerned about their financial security than their political freedom, according to a survey conducted by the International Republican Institute, a non-profit organization strongly opposed to Cuba’s Communist government. Four out of five Cubans said they support an economy that allows them the right to own property and business.
- Miley Cyrus, star of "Hannah Montana," is reportedly dating her 22-year-old back-up dancer.
- "American Idol" runner-up David Archuleta has signed with 19 Recordings/Jive, home to "AI" contestants Jordin Sparks, Kelly Clarkson and recent winner David Cook.
- Check out footage of 16-year-old Chris Chike getting a perfect score on “Through the Fire and Flames” by DragonForce, from the video game Guitar Hero III. Earlier this year, Chike held the Guinness World record for “Highest Score for a Single Song on Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock” when he completed the seven-minute “Through the Fire and Flames” on "expert" at 97 percent.
