- U.S. journalists stationed in Iraq say it has become increasingly difficult to get stories about the Iraq war on the air. ABC, CBS and NBC have only shown 181 weekday minutes of Iraq coverage this year, compared with 1,157 minutes in 2007.
- Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio of Arizona is being accused of racial profiling. Arpaio has sent out sheriff's deputies into Latino communities and arrested those who cannot prove they are legal U.S. residents. Phoenix Mayor Phil Gordon says Arpaio is violating the U.S. Constitution: "If you're brown, you're going to be pulled over, and if you're white, you're not. It's as simple as that."
- Jacob Arabov, aka "Jacob The Jeweler," was sentenced to 30 months in prison for falsifying records and giving false statements to federal investigators. Arabov, sometimes called the "King of Bling," became well-known for customizing jewelry for high-profile clients like Kanye West, Diddy and Jay-Z.
- Fresh off his "not guilty" verdict, R. Kelly drops a new song, "Playas Get Lonely."
- British pop star Boy George may have to cancel his summer tour in the U.S. after he was denied a visa by U.S. officials. The 47-year-old singer was denied entry into the U.S. because he is awaiting trial on false imprisonment charges.
