- Elvira Arellano, the Mexican woman who has lived in a Chicago church for the last year to avoid being deported and separated from her eight-year-old U.S.-born son, was arrested after attending a church meeting in Los Angeles and was later deported to Tijuana. Arellano has become a symbol of the growing sanctuary movement.
- Reggaetoneros Calle 13 and Voltio have released songs condemning police brutality after a Puerto Rican police officer shot and killed an unarmed man last week. (via The Latin Americanist)
- Disney's High School Musical 2 became the most watched program in basic cable TV history with over 17 million viewers.
- Sony is launching a nationwide program that will allow consumers to recycle all their unwanted Sony products for free.

- Hip hop mega-producer Dr. Dre is suing now-bankrupt Death Row Records for the rights to his multi-platinum debut album The Chronic.
