- Republican presidential candidate John McCain announced he is suspending his campaign to focus on resolving the U.S. financial crisis and has asked Democrat Barack Obama to do the same. McCain also suggested postponing their first presidential debate, which was scheduled for tomorrow. Obama rejected McCain's proposal and says the debate should go on as planned: "This is exactly the time when the American people need to hear from the person who in approximately 40 days will be responsible for dealing with this mess."
- The FBI is investigating fallen mortgage lenders Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac as well as investment bank Lehman Brothers and insurance company AIG for 26 possible counts of fraud.
- Check out a preview of Kanye West's TV variety show, "Alligator Boots," starring puppets rapping about pregnant girls at the club.
- Kurt Cobain's daughter, Frances Bean, recently threw a suicide-themed sweet 16 party.
