A number of youth organizations are pushing legislators to lower the legal drinking age, stating that current age restrictions make alcohol a "forbidden fruit" and do nothing to prevent underage drinking. Opponents argue that current laws would increase teen drunk driving, one of the leading causes of deaths for young adults.
