As Mexican pop superstars RBD exit the stage, their producer, Pedro Damian, is ready to usher in the next tween star: Lola. Portrayed by 16-year-old Eiza González, "Lola" is the lead character from the Mexican telenovela Lola - Érase Una Vez. Loosely based on the Argentinean soap Floricienta, the hit Mexican version is a mixture of "Hannah Montana," "Cinderella" and "The Sound of Music."

The story: while tutoring the young children of the wealthy Von Ferdinand family, the spunky Lola ends up forming a rock band. She eventually falls in love with the eldest brother, Alexander. But Lola's affections are sabotaged by Alexander's godmother, who wants him to marry her daughter so she can inherit the Von Ferdinand fortune. Heavy. Much lighter is the telenovela's winning soundtrack, which has has delivered catchy pop hits like Si Me Besas, Masoquismo and Se Muy Bien.

Whether González will follow with a second album as Lola is uncertain, but the telenovela star appears ready to become México's answer to Miley Cyrus, not Hannah Montana: “It's all part of a process, there's people who now know that Lola is really Eiza… so it's all part of the process."

Young and good looking, Chilean pop group Kudai is being hailed as the next RBD. But the eyeliner-loving quartet says it's not trying to ride anyone's coattails with its sweet pop tunes and matching outfits: "We're not plastic figures nor are we fakes."

Originally named Ciao, the group performed europop covers of Italian songs before becoming Kudai. Named after the Mapudungun word "kudau," which means "young worker," the foursome was founded by Pablo Ernesto Holman Concha, Tomás Andrés Cañas Manzi, Bárbara de Lourdes Sepúlveda Labra and Nicole Montserrat Natalino Torres.

In 2003, Kudai released its debut, Vuelo, featuring winsome tween pop hits like Sin Despertar and Escapar. Three years later, the group embraced rock on its second album, Sobrevive, and unveiled a new emo-ish look: angular haircuts, eyeliner and all-black threads. But in the middle of an international tour in support of Sobrevive, Nicole left Kudai, citing fatigue and later suing its management for compensation. She was quickly replaced by María Gabriela Villalba Jervis from the Ecuadorian pop group Kiruba.

Their latest, Nadha, is the first to be released widely in the U.S. Now shockingly cool-looking scenesters, Kudai maintain their edgier look is a sign of maturity. Newcomer Villalba explains: "If you do the same thing you did before, you'll get pigeonholed as the teen group that doesn't want to grow up."

Diego is all grown up.

Five years ago, Diego Andrés González Bonetta was a cute 13-year-old in the finals of Codigo F.A.M.A. – think "La Academia," for kids. Diego didn't win, but he eventually became a tween heartthrob in México by parlaying his appearance on "Codigo" into acting roles on youth telenovelas like Alegrijes y Rebujos and Misión SOS: Aventura y Amor.

At 14, Diego took on the role of Roco in REBELDE, the inspiration for RBD. With his wavy locks and dimpled chin, he soon won the hearts of teens from Tijuana to Tuxtla Gutiérrez. RBD's Dulce Maria had nothing but praise for her young co-star: "[Diego] may be one of the youngest ones here, but I swear he's also one of the most mature."

In 2006, Diego returned to music, releasing a self-titled album of grown-up pop that belied his 16 years of age. He scored a hit with Solo Existes Tú, a catchy pop-rock track with playful synths and a pulsing bass guitar. He embarked on an international tour that took him to Brazil, Chile, Romania, Spain and the U.S.

Earlier this year, Diego dropped Perdido En Ti, a rock anthem which he also recorded in English (Losing Me), from his forthcoming Jonas Brothers-meets-Alex Ubago album, Indigo. Featuring production by Guy Chambers (Robbie Williams) and Matt Wallace (Maroon 5) and co-signed by the legendary Juan Gabriel, Indigo is scheduled for release next month. Diego says building the courage to collaborate with such big names isn't scary: "What scares me more, is not trying anything at all."
