- Venezuelan singer-songwriter Jeremias returns with his third album, Un Día Más En el Gran Circo (Another Day In The Great Circus). The Miami Herald calls Un Día Más "a great leap forward, an ambitious recording with startling emotional sweep and enveloping musical lushness.” Billboard.com singles out the title track's “gorgeous blend of strings, organ [and] psychedelia," as a "fitting opening to an album full of artful touches."
- Dirty South MC Yung Joc delivers his sophomore album, Hustlenomics. Newsday compares Joc’s album to a political campaign: “[A] little bit of this, a little bit of that, and a whole lot of pandering.” Rolling Stone disses Hustlenomics for being "a collection of lame get-rich anthems. It will probably earn Joc another gold chain or six, but it feels pretty generic."
- Underground rapper Aesop Rock is back with None Shall Pass. “Aesop is one of the few MCs truly taking hip-hop to the next level … deciphering these dense tracts is … like cracking The Bible Code,” according to The BBC. Non-underground mag Entertainment Weekly suggests mainstream rap fans should give Aesop Rock's "moody, eccentric brain-teasing set" a chance.
- Atlanta pop-rock quintet Cartel are back with their eponymous second album. The Stir Online is on the fence: “Maybe it’s only a mediocre pop punk album, but with some pretty surprising gems.” Sputnik Music completely slams it: “[W]hat starts off as a moderately promising album fusing a slightly different touch into things becomes an extremely boring and lifeless record.”
